During the time this song was in it's writing-stage, the band had a huge affinity for Black Sabbath and was delving into the realms of Doom Metal. The main verse riff comes from notes played during the prechorus and the chorus riffs which were prewritten. The adoption into slow and sludgy power chords married very well with the groovy, bluesy descent and the tense vibratos to massive chord chugs that follows.

The monstrous tempo change comes from an appreciation of pure thrash that would make Slayer and Metallica proud, especially during the single stringed tremolo segment that really brings out the Doom. With those chugged triplets and hanging note for suspense, you can't help but to bang your head to the point of whiplash!

The lyrics comes from a cynical observation of today's society: How everyone seems to function and exist within the confines of their own little world. Strife and misfortune exist because nobody cares enough to lift a finger to help. When one wishes to help the situation but has absolutely no idea how, this person ends up feeling terrible and utterly worthless.

Worth more than this trivial bullshit
Yet I cannot help but feeling as if
I'm completely utterly worthless
