about

This moody, wah-driven number was the last song to be completed in the recording of this EP. At 3:00 to be exact. The main riff and variations of the rhythm comes from experimentation with a capo on the 2nd fret. The arpeggios played move back in forth from major to minor, creates tension and dissonance. Riffs like this spawn the band's signature "bipolar" riffage. It isn't until the bridge that the song's tempo picks up and creates a bizarre birrage of power chords which maintain the same notes from before. The transition from the droning, mellow djembe to the excited percussive blasts from a drum set help push the song dynamically while the bass envelops deeply the entirety of the rhythm right from the moment it comes in.

This song was pre-written before the band formed. Originally, this song was the background music for the eponymous setting found in the story Freddie Rodriguez is writing. This is where the lyrics derive from as well. It was first written as an orchestral piece tabbed on a program called Tux Guitar, but it was adapted to fit the band's genre of punk, grunge, and doom metal.

lyrics

I'm wandering aimlessly
Pondering endlessly
This is mist is blinding
No sun shining

Darkness consumes me
Sanity I'm losing
I'm so lost and so cold
and so alone

I don't know why
I've come to this place
This forest
of Despair

I'm hearing noises
Menacing voices
They tell me to leave
And not come back

Glowing red eyes
penetrates this dark place
It sees me. It's hungry
It's ravenous

It follows me
Wherever I go
I feel its breath
Behind my neck
